Hi everyone! Welcome to another Artisan Wednesday WOW blog hop. Just in case you are joining us for the first time, let me explain. Each week the ten members of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team post projects that are created primarily from a box of goodies we receive monthly from Stampin 'Up! Our blog hop makes a complete circle. At the end of every post there is a "next" button that will take you to the next blog until you end up back where you started. If you are hopping, then you should have arrived here from Cindy Schuster's blog. And don't forget to check back during the week because we are also sharing our Leadership Display projects too.
For the past few years I have altered a little heart box of chocolates for Valentine's Day. It has really become a tradition. You can see a few of them here, here, and here. Typically they are very feminine with lots of flowers and such, so this year I would shake things it up and be a little more trendy with my design.
To make this I stamped the new Hardwood (133035) background stamp in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. (If I haven't said this before, then let me just mention that I adore this new background stamp. I want to use it on practically everything I make.)
I placed the lid of the box face down on the stamped image so that I could make sure I had everything lined up exactly where I wanted it. Then I traced it with a pencil and carefully trimmed it out. I erased any pencil lines that I may have missed and then glued it to the front of the box. The key to a perfect fit is this next step. I used a standing block and sanded the edges until they were smooth and aligned perfectly with the lid. I did some sponging around the edges with Early Espresso ink as well.
For the sentiment I used the Quite A Pair set (#133179) and colored it with markers and stamped it on Whisper White cardstock. I used Real Red for the sentiment, Summer Starfruit for the pear, and Early Espresso for the stem. I punched it out with a 1-3/8" circle punch and layered it on a circle of Real Red cardstock that I cut using the Circles #2 die. I used to the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle punch and punched a scrap piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock to put behind the layered sentiment. I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler bakers twine around the box and tied the bow on the box so that it could be opened later. The arrow was cut with a die from the Label Card Thinlits set (#133479). I snipped it into two halves to make it longer and then placed the sentiment over top using Dimensionals.
I hope you have enjoyed today's project. Now be sure to hop on over to see what Erica Cerwin and the rest of the design team have created.
