The theme for this week's challenge at Global Design Project is Spring/Easter.
Spring has sprung here in Tennessee and it really looks pretty from my window. Regardless of everything going on in the world, this is always a difficult time due to my seasonal allergies. I love the warm weather and all the beautiful flowers, but if I spend more than a few minutes outside, it makes me very sick. But I can't let all that get me down. Life is a beautiful gift from God and I am blessed in so many ways. I love this week's theme and absolutely had to make a card. Easter has such a special meaning to me as a Christian and nothing can take away the joy that brings.
I started with a standard top-folding Thick Whisper White card base (4.25"x5.5"). Next, I embossed a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder (#151474). After embossing, I highlighted the raised images with a Whisper White Craft Pad and added splatters of white craft ink. I set the panel aside to dry but ended up using a heat tool to complete the drying process.
Next, I stamped 2 of the cherry blossom images from the Forever Blossoms stamp set (#151457) with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored the images with Stampin' Blends. I used both Petal Pink and Calypso Coral markers for the flowers and Old Olive for the leaves. Then I die cut both with the coordinating Cherry Blossoms Dies (#151456). I used one of the flower images for the base and then I fussy cut the other and used dimensions to add height to the flowers. I layered the flower cluster over a thread nest and scattered Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#151193) around the image.
Finally, I stamped the greeting from the Timeless Tulips stamp set (#151534) and added it to the card front.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fabulous challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
