More Great Projects from Convention

I thought I would share a few more wonderful 3D's from convention, but first another "friend" picture. This is my beautiful and talented friend, Lorri Heiling. I met Lorri last year at convention. I was so excited to get the opportunity to see her again this year...she is such a sweetie! You should see the adorable 3d projects that she creates...amazing!

Now on to more over-the-top, cute projects. Just a quick note: I am not sharing any of the Artisan Finalists projects because we are planning a blog hop in a few weeks...I love this little scrapbook photoframe. This particular type of project was very popular with the Artisan Award competitors. This one is beautiful. I almost made one similar to this, but changed my mind and made a photobook instead.

I love this beautiful corset...of course I wouldn't ever want to wear one, I still think it would be a beautiful display piece. I sew some, so I can just tell you that I know that is must have taken several hours to complete...totally amazing.

I think this framed basket of flowers is gorgeous. I love everything about it.

This baby keepsake box is absolutely adorable. Lots of work and tons of details. (Update: this was created by Monika Davis.)

And the last project today...this adorable watering can filled with paper flowers...C-U-T-E!

International Eleanor

Today's card was made with a combination of products from the International Bazaar product suite and the stamp set "Always Eleanor". I have a wonderful friend named Eleanor and everything time of use this stamp set I think about how it is beautiful, just like her.

I don't know why, but my favorite color lately is Pacific Point or at least I seemed to gravitate to it for several cards for a while. I used it in combination with Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive. 

More Friends and Some of my Favorite Displays

I have a few more pictures of my friends from convention and I also want to highlight some of my favorite projects on display at convention...first the friends. This is my friend Cindy Ardis. I met Cindy at Leadership Convention in Nashville last year and I look forward to seeing her at all the major SU events. She is a total sweetheart.

This was my roommie, Ruthie Graen (pronounced "grain"). WOW, she sure was a lot of fun to be around. Ruthie is upbeat and positive. There was never a dull moment with Ruthie around. This picture was taken on my smartphone in the convention center...just goofin' off.

This is my friend, Kari Karlin. Kari, Nancy, and I were roommies last year at convention, but Kari brought her mom to convention this year so that is why I hooked up with Ruthie instead. Kari is just the nicest person. I am so glad we got to sit together at one of the main stage presentations.

This is Amy Rogers. Amy was an Artisan Finalist this year so I guess I don't need to tell you that she is extremely talented. Amy did all of the hard work of contacting the other finalists so that we could organize our Artisan Award Finalists Card Swap. Isn't this just the cutest dress? She made it herself. It is hard to see from the picture, but she tore strips of Designer Fabric and tied knots at various places. Then she attached the top and bottom of each strip when she assembled the dress. This is soooooo C-U-T-E!!!!

I still have a few more friend pics, but I need to find them on my camera. So, now I want to show you some amazing projects that were on display at convention. I am guessing that these are projects that were submitted by various demonstrators for the Artisan Award or some other contest. I wish I knew who made the projects I am about to show you. It really caught my eye The colors are just gorgeous. I just might have to make one of these for myself. Isn't it just beautiful? This is an altered mini bicycle. You really need to see this close up. The artist made minature SU catalog for the basket, covered the seat with fabric and just so much more....LOVE IT!

If you read my blog often, it is no secret that I love paper flowers. I just adore this flower pot trio made from card stock and designer series paper...perfect for spring.

 

 

 

This vintage photo board was truly incredible. I just love stuff like this, although I probably would have never made it for myself. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you made one of these and used photos from your family tree. I can't get over the attention to detail.

I saved my very favorite until last. This doll house was totally over-the-top! I am not exactly sure how it was done, but one thing I know for sure...it took a long time to create. If you look at every room you will be amazed at the attention to detail. Each room has minature "everything". Unbelievable! As a matter of fact, I am thinking it was too amazing. What I mean is that I think SU was looking for projects that can be done is a relatively short amount of time and be reproducible. The skill level and patience on this project was way beyond the reach of most paper crafters.

 

 

 

 

 

Fabulous Flowers Artisan Finalist Swap

I promised I would share my Artisan Finalist Swap Card, so here it is...well almost. I used the same design as one of my display samples, so if it looks familiar, that is why. This is was on display at convention on the International Bazaar board. The only thing I did differently was that the frame on this card has paper piercing and the swap card didn't. I think I must have had a temporary lapse in sanity to make 32 of these beauties. Thank goodness I took my stamps on vacation with me so that I could work on them during my down time.

There's lots of fussy cutting on this one. Each flower is stamped twice. I cut the bottom layer full size and the top flower layer has portions trimmed away to give it some interest. Can you see the similarities between this card and the one I showed you the other day? As you can imagine, I had several leftovers where I cut out the center of the card front AND the center of the frame. I was determined to make a card that showcased stamping. So even though there was a lot of work involved, the cost of this card is relatively inexpensive to make and flat enough to go through the mail.

I had someone ask what color of card stock I used...it's Pacific Point layered on Melon Mambo. I stamped the flowers in Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight. The leaves are Old Olive.

I am trying to put together all of my convention photos, but in the meantime. I know some of you really want to see the display boards, so here is a picture of the International Bazaar/Storytime Suites board. I have six projects on this board, so you will be seeing some of these in more detail over the next few weeks.
