Our theme this week at Global Design Project is beautiful bugs. I am not really a fan of bugs, but I guess there are a few that aren't too scary. I do love butterflies and I love that honeybees are so useful when it comes to pollenating flowers and making honey. I also don't mind dragonflies too much. With all that being said, I just don't have much current product that works with this challenge. Therefore, I decided to go a slightly different direction and make a flower card and embellish it with some beautiful Brushed Brass Butterflies (#158136).
(If you haven't seen the new annual catalog, then I should mention that there are some really pretty stamp sets that will work here, I just don't happen to have them yet.)
I started with a top-folding card base made with Starry Sky cardstock. I used the Stitched Greenery Die (155451) to impress a pattern into Crumb Cake cardstock. I also sponged some Crumb Cake ink onto the edges before adhering it to the base.
Next, I used the Meadow Dies (#155852) to die cut some floral elements from watercolor paper and then I watercolored them with classic ink refills. I used Granny Apple Green and Parakeet Party for the stems and then used Crushed Curry, Starry Sky, and Sweet Sorbet for the flowers.
I cut a tiny tag using the Meadows Dies and stamped the word "hello" from the Sending Smiles stamp set (#158701) and tied it to the stems using Linen Thread.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
