We have a sketch challenge this week at Global Design Project. I struggled with this one because I was trying too hard to incorporate designer series paper into my design. It wasn't until I let go of that idea that I was able to really embrace this sketch.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. I used a very basic dry embossing technique to add just a hint of interest with a stylus and the Simply Scored Scoring Tool (#122334). I actually preferred the debossed side of the cardstock for this particular design. I added some subtle stitching around the edges of the panel with the Stitched Rectangle Dies (#151820). This finishes the panel and helps it relate to the gold frame I used beneath the flowers. Then I added a layer of Blushing Bride cardstock behind the panel before placing it on a Night of Navy top-folding card base. (Here's a little tip: trim about a 1/8" from the side of the card base so that it layers evenly behind the panel.)
There isn't any stamping on the outside of this card. Instead, I let the beautiful die cut flowers to be center of attention. I just can't get enough of this new Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper (#158822). (Here are two more cards that I made with this paper.) I used a leftover frame from my previous cards to add focus to the panel and pull the eye into the focal point. Finally, I die cut the sentiment using the Amazing Thanks Dies (#157816).
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
