We are CASEing Angela Meiritz-Reid's lovely card this week at Global Design Project.
I really like Angela's card for many reasons. From the very beginning I knew that I wanted to focus on using a similar layout and stamped blue floral elements. The stamp set that she used was one of my favorites, but since it is retired, I wanted to work with something more current. I used Flowing Flowers (#157880) from the Spring Mini Catalog. I have seen so many pretty cards made with this set, but it is only here until the end of June, so if you love it, be sure to order it soon.
I stamped four of the large flowers in the set with Misty Midnight ink and then fussy cut them. Even if you don't like to fussy cut, this one fairly easy to do, so don't let that hold you back from making this card. Layer two flowers together with the bottom one turned 180 degrees and slightly off-set from the top flower. Give the petals a little life by curling them with a bone folder. Also, use dimensionals between layers to get the appearance of a bigger, more realistic looking bloom.
There really isn't a good leaf stamp in this set, so I decided to borrow several elements from the Artistically Inked Bundle (#155456). I think the leaves from this set compliment the flower both in scale and appearance. I also like that there is a coordinating die for the leaves so that helps keep hand-cutting to a minimum. I also cut a leaf spray from Thick Basic White Cardstock and then cut it into individual pieces to tuck into the layout. I think it is great how many of the stamps and dies from Stampin' Up! work well together.
I heat embossed the sentiment from the Flowing Flowers set on Misty Moonlight cardstock and then trimmed it by hand. I added a few of the new Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#158130) from the Spring Mini Catalog. I love how they work well with just about any color pallet.
I hope you like today's project. We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
