We have another great color challenge this week at Global Design Project.
One of the best things about color challenges is that it encourages you to use colors that you would not normally incorporate into your projects. Sometimes we think about colors individually and not how they will work with other colors. I am really not a big fan of Mango Melody all by itself, but when you put it with Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight, it works well.
For this card I reverted a little to my old style of distressing. I guess I was feeling nostalgic or something, but it felt good to crumple that doily and distress the paper. I am sure you recognize the stamp set, Hand-Penned Petals (#155070), because it is one of my favorites. But I wanted to introduce some new products into my card as well. The sentiment is from the Amazing Thanks Dies (#157816) and I am going to just tell you, I love it! I hope that Stampin' Up! keeps this one around for a while and maybe even expands the collection in future catalogs. The paper and doilies are from the Heart & Home Suite Collection (#157959) and you will be seeing more of it from me without a doubt.
I made a second card for this challenge, and one thing that occurred to me is that these colors are practically basic primary colors. They aren't exactly cyan, magenta (well maybe), and yellow, but they are very close and they react in a similar manner.
As I added color to each part of this floral image from the Artistic Dies (#155371) I noticed the blending of colors. You can see how when I put the Misty Moonlight over the Mango Melody it yielded a beautiful green, while the Misty Moonlight and Magenta Madness blended to become a lovely purple. And of course, the Magenta Madness and Mango Melody became a beautiful shade of orange. These are the basic color principles that I learned in elementary school art class. I realize that this card is clean and simple, but I think I like it even more than the other card. The sentiment for this card is from the In Symmetry stamp set (#155140).
I WOULD LOVE TO BE YOUR STAMPIN' UP! DEMONSTRATOR
If you are in the United States and need a demonstrator, then you can order your supplies in my online store here.
Have a blessed day!
