GDP328: Global Design Project CASE the Designer

We are CASEing Janneke De Jogn's lovely card this week at Global Design Project. 

I am a big fan of the Hand-Penned Petals (#155070) stamp set, but I wanted to CASE Janneke without copying her. I stayed with a similar layout using a different floral stamp set and color combo.

It's Sale-a-bration! time at Stampin' Up! and the Friendly Hello Stamp Set is one of the items you can get for free with a $100 purchase (USD). I stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento ink on Basic White cardstock and then colored them with Stampin' Blends. I added additional detail using dry watercolor pencils. But I didn't stop there. I fussy cut everything and then used a foam mat to add real dimension by shaping the petals from behind.

Next, I used a blending brush to add some subtle color to the white panel using the new Butterflies and Flowers Decorative Masks (#158142). The most challenging part of this card is building the floral arrangement. Once I determined where I wanted everything, I glued some of the flowers directly to the base while using dimensionals on others.

I used a simple sentiment from the Just Gallery stamp set (#158201) and added some white Classic Matte Dots (#158146) for a different take on an old favorite.

GDP327: Global Design Project Theme Challenge

Love is in the air this week Global Design Project. 

The card I made for our challenge comes with a bit of a disclaimer...you need to be an avid crafter if you want to give this one a try. I started with a top-folding Mint Macaron card base and then added the new Slim Card Dies (#157965). This particular die is very delicate and it took a few attempts before I got the desired results. I also used the Stitched Rectangle Dies (#151820) to cut an additional edge border. It wasn't quite long enough, so I pieced it together and then hid the seems under the flowers. I may seem like an unnecessary step, but believe me, it is worth the extra effort.

Next, I stamped, colored and die cut the flowers from the new Blessings of Home Bundle (#157939). I used black Memento ink and then colored the images with Mint Macaron, Pale Papaya, and So Saffron Stampin' Blends.

Because this was a "love" challenge, I borrowed a sentiment from my favorite set, Celebrate Sunflowers (#152517) and die cut it with the Tasteful Labels Dies (#152886).

GDP326: Global Design Project Sketch Challenge

It's time for our sketch challenge this week at Global Design Project. It is a very versatile sketch that lends itself to just about everyone's style.

I really love using beautiful designer series papers in my layouts and this sketch really works well for that. I used my favorite paper, Hand-Penned DSP (#155499) for this card. I have to say, I have really gotten my money's worth from this paper collection.

I focused on products from the Hand-Penned Suite again this week.  In addition, I cut a foundation piece using the Scalloped Contours Dies (#155560) using Mint Macaron card stock. 

The large center circles we cut using the Layering Circles Dies (#151770). The smaller circle is from the Tasteful Labels Die Set (#152886).

GDP325: Global Design Project Color Challenge

We have some really pretty colors for our challenge this week at Global Design Project.

Maybe it's because we just had 6" of snow dumped on us last week, but I feel like this is a very spring-like color pallet. Regardless, spring will be here before you know it, so why not get ahead of the curve?

I am longing to use some of the new product from the new Spring Mini Catalog, but alas, my order is running late due to the weather. So instead, I pulled from our amazing annual catalog for this challenge. I used the Artistically Inked stamp set (#154542) along with the coordinating Artistic Dies (#155371). (FYI, you can save 10% if you order them as a bundle #155456.) 

You know I love gingham, so I pulled in some Pale Papaya gingham paper from the Pansy Petals DSP collection (#155807).

I added some white twine from the Baker's Twine Essential Pack #155475 and who can resist those adorable Bumblebee Trinkets #155568?

Global Design Project: GDP324 Case the Designer

It's a new year and we have a new challenge this week at Global Design Project. If this card looks familiar, it's because we are CASEing me. You can see how I made the original card here.

For my new card, I used a similar layout but drew inspiration for the color palette from the Hand-Penned DSP (#155499). You can find this suite on pages 104-105 of the Annual Catalog. I stamped the floral image from Hand-Penned Petals (#155070) with black ink on white cardstock and then die cut the floral images using the coordinating Penned Flowers Dies (#155557). To stamp the coordinating flowers I used Pale Papaya, Misty Moonlight, Mint Macaron, and Garden Green inks. I stamped an extra set of flowers and cut it into pieces to fill-in some of the areas that needed a little extra love.

I didn't want to over-power the beautiful flowers, so I used a small greeting from the same stamp set and die cut it with the small circle from the Tasteful Labels Die Set (#152886). Since the background paper already has a subtle dot pattern, I decided not to add any additional splatters.

I substituted White Baker's Twine (#155475) for the Linen Thread and added clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the larger flower centers instead of the randomly placed pearls. I also replaced the die cut florals with a Square Vellum Doily (#152484).

To frame and ground the busy floral design, I placed the panel onto the front of a top-folding card base made from Misty Moonlight cardstock.
