We have a pretty color challenge this week at Global Design Project.
One of the first things I do when given a color challenge is look at my Designer Series Paper stash to see what I have that works. I was really excited to find that some of the designs in the Expressions in Ink DSP (#155464) already had Pale Papaya for the flowers and Pear Pizazz for the leaves. So I decided to see if I could make it work for this color challenge.
I was inspired by the You're A Peach DSP to add Balmy Blue to the background using a Stampin' Blends marker. It was a simple fix and this technique is something I like to do to add versatility to my background papers.
Next, I die cut a floral piece with the coordinating Artistic Dies (#155371) from Basic White cardstock and used that as a base for the sentiment.
To make customized die cut leaves that coordinate with the gold in the DSP, I added an adhesive sheet to a piece of cardstock and then added Gilded Leafing (#154560). It only took a couple of extra minutes, but the end result was worth the extra effort. It is so beautiful and I saved the scraps for a future project.
Finally, I used the Artistically Inked Stamp Set (#154542) and coordinating dies to stamp/cut the flowers and leaves. I also fussy cut a piece of scrap DSP for the flower center. The sentiment is cut with a die from the Tasteful Labels set (#152886).
I hope you are inspired to give this color combination a try and play along. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this great color challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
