It's time for our sketch challenge this week at Global Design Project.
This sketch is a little out of the ordinary. It can be interpreted in so many different ways, but I decided to focus on the background. This beautiful paper is from the Harvest Meadow Suite Collection (#156280) from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog (available August 3). The colors in this paper are Calypso Coral, Bumblebee, Soft Succulent, Misty Moonlight, and Crumb Cake.
I cut eight 3/4" strips of DSP and overlapped some of the edges. I distressed the edges of the paper and added a hint of Crumb Cake ink.
The flowers and sentiment are stamped with Misty Moonlight ink. I love that this stamp set is paired with coordinating dies. I don't really mind fussy cutting, but I will opt for the perfection of die cut images almost every time. I really wanted the flowers to be more substantial, so I cut and layered four pieces of cardstock on top of the other so that the end result resembles a chipboard element. This entire suite is perfect for late summer or early fall cards. As a matter of fact...I predict that you are going to love practically everything in the upcoming mini catalog.
Finally, I added an adorable Bumblebee Trinket (#155568) from the annual catalog.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
