We have another great basic sketch challenge at Global Design Project this week. It is very easy to work with, so you may want to play along. For the first time in a long while, I actually stayed fairly true to the sketch. The only exception was that I used a longer sentiment strip.
One of the many things I love about stamping is the ability to take a basic image, in this case, a peony, and create something totally unique. The Peony Garden Suite (#154129) is absolutely stunning. While I love the beautiful designer series paper in the suite, I also love that I can create something beautiful with just the stamp set on its own. You can find these products on pages 82-84 of the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. I have always had a fondness for peonies. We had two peony bushes in our yard when I was a girl. I loved the way the beautiful flowers would return each spring regardless of our lack of attention. I also remember that the red ants loved these flowers as well, so my father didn't care for them very much.
I could have used some designer series paper and sentiment and finished this card in no time. But instead, I chose to savor the beautiful flowers in the Prized Peony (#152504) stamp set and make something totally my own. I stamped and masked the medium flower from the stamp set to create my very own patterned paper using Memento Ink. Then I used Petal Pink, So Saffron, Mint Macaron, and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend Markers to color it. I mounted everything on a top-folding Soft Suede Card and layered on a piece of Flowers for Every Season (#152486) DSP.
I used the greeting from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and stamped it in Soft Suede ink. Then created a thread nest using gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (#152475). I also added a few Gold Metallic Pearls (#146282) for just a little hint of shimmer.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
