Can you believe that we are celebrating our 200th challenge this week! WOW! Special thanks to Louise Sharp for keeping us organized and to all the others who help! We have an amazing team! This week at the Global Design Project challenge blog we are CASEing this lovely card by Janneke de Jong.
When I look a Janneke's card, I see a top-folding Crumb Cake card base, followed by an embossed white card layer, some linen thread, three pink focal elements, a simple greeting, and some scattered embellishments. I kept all of this in mind, but instead of the butterflys, I enlarged the focal elements and used these beautiful Melon Mambo flowers instead. It gives the card a very different look while staying true to the original concept.
I used Melon Mambo ink to stamp the flowers from the To A Wild Rose Stamp Set (#151073). I stamped off for the first layer and then used full strength ink for the other two layers. If you use a Stamparatus you can set up your plates and stamp several flowers at once without having to worry about lining up each layer. Also, the coordinating Wild Rose Dies (#149547) saves you a ton of time on cutting out the flowers. For the leaves I started with Granny Apple Green Classic Ink for the base color and then stamped the other layers with Call Me Clover ink. The greeting is stamped with Crumb Cake ink.
I used Dimensionals to layer the flowers at different heights and even tucked in some leaves throughout for a more realistic look.
Finally, I added some color to the pearls using Stampin' Blends.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
