We have another wonderful sketch challenge this week at Global Design Project. I don't make a lot of clean and simple cards, so it was fun to mix things up and try something different.
I have been itching to try this new color combo and I thought it would work great with the clean, modern lines of this sketch. I forgot just how much I adore Poppy Parade and when it is paired with Mango Melody; it is gorgeous. I love how the Smoky Slate leaves and tag add interest without adding any additional distractions.
This card was simple to make. I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies (#148551) to create the main card layer with Whisper White cardstock and backed it with a slightly larger layer of Smoky Slate cardstock. I also die cut three panels cut with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies (#148551) in Whisper White and then stamped the trio with flowers from the Floral Essence Stamp Set.(#149450). Yes, I die cut first and then stamped. It was much easier to get the right distribution of color for each panel that way. I adhered the panels to the base with Dimensionals and wrapped it in twine before attaching everything to the card base. I also stamped and heat embossed a tiny tag using the "hello" from the Country Home Stamp Set (147678). The tag is cut by hand, but it is basically the same size as the tag from the Bouquet Bunch Dies (#143659). Finally, I added three small Silver Metallic Pearls (#146282) to complete the look.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
