We have a surprisingly delightful color combo this week at the Global Design Project. I truly thought this one would be difficult because I am not a big fan of Grapefruit Grove, but when it is paired with Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight, it really comes to life.
For my card I used the flowers from the Painted Seasons Bundle (#150349). You can earn this bundle right now through March 31, 2019 with a qualifying purchase of $100 (USD). You can also purchase the coordinating Four Seasons Framelits Dies (#150074) for $28 (USD) for a limited time. I have seen some beautiful cards made with this set and I was anxious to give it a go.
I used a Stamparatus (#146276) so that I could stamp each flower multiple times. First I stamped each flower with the main color and then for the yellow flowers I used a sponge dauber and added Grapefruit Grove ink to the stamp and then stamped a third time. I used the same method with the Grapefruit Grove and added some Calypso Coral to the centers. I stamped the leaves with Granny Apple Green ink and then dabbed Old Olive ink to the stamp before making the final impression. This method was a little time consuming, but definitely worth the extra effort.
As you can see, I didn't skimp on the layers for this card. I started with Gingham Gala DSP for the card base, added some white linen thread and die cut some Whisper White ovals for the foundation of the arrangement. Then I piled on the die cut flowers and then topped it off with a multi-layer die cut greeting using the Thank You Thinlits Die (#146832).
I had some leftover flowers, so I made a bonus shaker card. The stamped images on this card only use one color of ink on each and are stamped multiple times for a deeper intensity. The shaker is filled with sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment (#144212).
Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog. We would love to have you play along with us this week.
