This bundle has so much to offer and I love it. It has been a while since I have used watercolor pencils, so I spent several hours exploring different techniques. For this particular card I stamped the flowers in Jet Black StazOn ink on Shimmery White cardstock. I lightly colored the flowers and then blended them with a Blender Pen to create a smooth foundation. Then I laid down several light layers of dry color and continued to build the intensity until I reached the look I wanted. Next, I used the sharp portion of the pencil tip to flick color from the center of the flower out. I love the control I get with this technique and even though it takes quite a bit of time, the results are definitely worth it.
I chose Spring as my season and I mostly used colors from the Watercolor Pencil Assortment 2 (Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green), but I did borrow a few colors from the original set (Daffodil Delight and Old Olive). I love the way the two sets compliment one another and stretch your coloring possibilities.
For the card base I used Smokey Slate cardstock (#131202) and gave the top panel some texture with the new Subtle Embossing Folder (#143706). Lightly mist your cardstock with water before running it through the Big Shot to get a great textured effect, just be sure to let it dry completely before adding it to your card front. After it was dry, I ran a hot iron over it to flatten it and then adhered it to a second piece of card stock for reinforcement.
I used the two largest Stitched Season Framelits to create an open frame. I cut one frame from Basic Black cardstock and one frame from Whisper White cardstock. By slightly offsetting the layers I was able to give some depth to the card. I love how these framelits add stitching to the inside and the outside of the frame.
Next, I cut three of the Thank You Thinlits (#146832) from Whisper White and one layer of Basic Black cardstock and stacked them for stability. Finally, I added the fussy cut flowers to the frame and strategically placed some sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment (#144212) to fill in the frame and add balance.
