I have been on a bit of a holiday break, so I am excited to be back and to be able to participate in this week's Global Design Project color challenge.
It was love at first sight when I saw the new Petal Passion suite. This card I uses the Petal Palette stamp set (#145785) along with the coordinating Petals & More Thinlits Dies.
The color challenge calls for Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, and Bermuda Bay, so here is how I incorporated them. The Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends marker is basically Peekaboo Peach, and the Light Rich Razzleberry is practically identical to Sweet Sugarplum, so I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Thick Whisper White paper and colored everything with the Stampin' Blends alcohol-based markers. But here's the thing...I didn't blend the marker layers. To achieve a sketchy look, I let the light layer dry and then lightly sketched over with the coordinating darker marker. It is just another way to use your markers to get an artistic look to your projects.
For the background, I embossed a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock with the new Simple Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#145648). It is easy to overlook, but you can find it on page 5 of the 2018 Occasions Spring Catalog. The debossed side reminds me of bead board that you might find in a country farmhouse. I tied on some linen thread before I added the floral cluster to the center of the card front. Then I mounted everything on a top-folding Crumb Cake card base.
I couldn't resist adding the sweet little birdie from the stamp set...he is so adorable! Notice all the layers on this card. I love the 3-D effect!
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
