Welcome to the very first 2018 Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. I am so excited to be associated with this amazing group of sixteen Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the globe. On this hop, we are focusing on Sale-A-Bration. Each of us selected the SAB set that we wanted to feature. If you follow my blog, then you know I love flowers, so the obvious choice for me was Heartfelt Blooms (#147197/147202). This set is stunning and easy to use, but with the fabulous samples in the SAB brochure and all over the internet, I knew I needed to do something unexpected.
The flower stamp in this set was created using a very special, patented process that results in a very photo-realistic image. That's where I got the idea to do photo tinting on my card. Photo tinting is where you take a black & white photo and colorize it with special markers. This technique was really popular in scrapbooking several years ago and it gives your photos a vintage look.
I stamped the flower image several times on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and then colored them with the Light Old Olive, Light Rich Razzleberry, and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Markers. After I colored all the flowers, I still felt like something else was missing, so I used the Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Marker to color the background. This is where the magic happened. I knew it would be a challenge to smoothly cover the entire background, so I deliberately used a scribbling motion for a result that resembles parchment.
For an even more dramatic vintage look, I heavily sponged Early Espresso ink around the edges of the card panel. Finally, I mounted the panel on a slightly larger piece of designer series paper, added some linen thread, and then mounted everything on a Basic Black top-folding card base.
I loved it so much that I created another card with Pool Party. This one makes me think of my best friend, Nancy, because it is her favorite color.
