Global Design Project GDP191: Theme Challenge

Our theme for this week's challenge at Global Design Project is Bees, Birds, and Butterflies.

Back at the beginning of the year the outgoing 2018 Artisan Design Team members were asked to put together a banner piece to send to our team leader, Susan Wong. She is such a lovely person and amazingly talented. I have enjoyed working with her getting to know her over the past few years. The banner pieces were supposed to be a surprise and she ultimately received them, but I never got around to posting my banner piece here on my blog. This project fits perfectly with our theme challenge this week at Global Design Project, so I am finally getting around to sharing it.

Going from memory, I am pretty sure that this was approximately 3"x4" in size, but this could easily be adapted to a standard A2 card. Most of the products used 0n this banner piece are carrying over to the new catalog, but if you love that faux ribbon piece behind the sentiment, then don't wait to buy it because the Birthday Banners stamp set (#141506) and the coordinating Bunch of Banners Framelits (#141488) are retiring at the end of May. I used Balmy Blue ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock along with the Buffalo Check background stamp (#151372) to create the base. To soften things a bit, I layered on a piece of vellum. Next, I used the Butterfly Beauty dies (#148536) to cut Daffodil Delight/Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment is from the Enjoy Life stamp set (#148190) and is heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

2018 A-Team Reunited

I pulled a fast one on my teammates from last year. Somehow I totally missed that we were having a reunion hop until about 20 minutes before it was supposed to go live. Fortunately, I had a "spare" project already photographed. It is highly unusual for me to have something ready to go at the drop of a hat. Special thanks to Elizabeth and Lauren for squeezing me in at the last minute. All of the the gals on the the team are so wonderful and I would have hated to miss this little get together.

This card mixes a new SAB stamp set, All Adorned Photopolymer Stamp Set (#149728) with  the First Frost Stamp Set (#148417/148420) carried over from the Holiday catalog from last year. You can earn the All Adorned set for free through the end of March. It is a great set and I think maybe a little overlooked.

I used a Stamparatus to perfectly stamp the corner element four times by stamping and then rotating the 3.5" Night of Navy cardstock. I used Versamark ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to add some texture to the finished card. To make it more managable, I stamped two corners, heat embossed and then stamped then repeated the process. I die cut a 2-7/16" circle, then stamped a background with Blushing Bride ink. I already had everything else stamped a die cut from earlier projects, so it was easy to finish the card by adding some floral elements.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Frosted Floral Suite

Welcome to the final 2018 Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. It has been a wonderful year and I love all these ladies so very much. I feel so blessed to have been part of this amazing team of talented demonstrators. But, I am also very excited to introduce the 2019 team. Be sure to scroll down all the way to the end of this post for links to their blogs.

On this hop, we are focusing on the Frosted Floral Suite on pages 36-37 in the 2018 Holiday Catalog. This is one of the most beautiful suites in the catalog.

I started with a Blackberry Bliss top-folding card base. Next I embossed some thick Whisper White cardstock with the Tin Tiles Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#147906). I trimmed about 1/4" from the bottom of the panel so that the Blackberry Bliss cardstock peeks out. I decided to stay with the same color pallet of the DSP in this suite. The flowers are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride, and Merry Merlot and die cut with the Frosted Bouquet Framelits Dies (#147895). The foliage is stamped in Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, and Mossy Meadow and then die cut as well.

I love the sentiment with this set. It is great for Christmas cards, holiday cards, and maybe even belated holiday cards.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - All Is Bright Suite

Welcome to another Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. On this hop, we are focusing on the All is Bright Suite on pages 4-7 in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.

This suite includes a broad range of  traditional colors and imagery. I decided to step of of my comfort zone a bit and make a fun little treat bag as my focal project. I made a simple bag with some All is Bright DSP (#147892) and include a fun little tag stamped with the Making Christmas Bright photopolymer stamp set (#148046). Hint: I used some inexpensive paper shreds from the local dollar store as bag filler.

 

For my second project I used the same tag elements and added everything to a Striped Treat Bag (#144255) stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Stampin' Blends markers. It would be really easy to include a simple hand-stamped card and maybe even a gift card as a quick and easy holiday gift for a co-worker or friend.

 

For my final project I couldn't resist making some fun flowers using the All is Bright DSP and the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch (#148013). I love using flowers on almost any project...where there is a will, there is a way! This is a semi-inexpensive frame ornament I purchased from the craft store. I removed the back, covered it with Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment from Merry Christmas to All stamp set (#147702) and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I used hot glue to reattach the panel to the frame.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Snowflakes Showcase Part 2

 

Welcome to special Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. On this hop, we are featuring the Snowflake Showcase Promotion featuring exclusive stamps, dies and accessories. Customers can purchase this fantastic bundle, November 1-30 or while supplies last.

We were asked to create two projects...one with just stamps and the other using stamps and coordinating dies. Some of the team are featuring the Happiness Surrounds stamp set (#149744) while others (like me) are featuring the Snow is Glistening stamp set (#149742).

My first card focuses on the stamp set. I just love snowflakes and the snowflake images in this set are great.

 

I stamped a piece of Wood Textures DSP with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed everything with White Embossing Powder. Then I just added some linen thread and some clear rhinestones for a great country Christmas card.

For my second project, I stayed with the country Christmas theme and stacked several layers of die cut snowflakes from the largest snowflake die in the Snowfall Thinlits set. The top layer was cut from Wood Textures DSP. I used the two largest snowflakes from the Snowfall Thinlits Dies and layered them for even more dimension.

 

For the sentiment, I die cut a circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies(#145372), stamped a Pear Pizzazz snowflake in the center and then stamped the word "Joy" in Early Espresso ink.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Country Lane Suite

Welcome to another Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. On this hop, we are focusing on the Country Lane Suite on pages 42-43 in the 2018 Holiday Catalog.

It was love at first sight when I saw this incredible suite of products. It was like Stampin' Up! created it just for me. If you asked me to pick just one product from the entire catalog, the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#147906) would be it. I started with a Basic Black top-folding card base, added a layer of Basic Black cardstock embossed with the Tin Tile folder and then adhered it to the card base for stability. Next, I added some splatters with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint (#147045). I also used the Copper Shimmer Paint and a sponge dauber to add some color to a Chicken Wire Element (#147807).

 

I stamped the greeting from the Country Home stamp set (#147678) with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and cut it with a square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (#145372).

 

Here comes to fun part...I used the cap from the Take Your Pick Tool (#144107) and a Stampin' Pierce Mat (#126199) to shape flowers punched with the Four-Petal Flower punch (#147041). I am fairly certain that it wasn't one of the intended purposes of the Take Your Pick Tool, but it worked well. To get this look, I punched the flowers from colored cardstock, spritzed lightly with water, and then pressed the cap into the petals at a 45 degree angle until the petals had the desired shape. After everything was completely dry I stacked the petals by off-setting them and using hot glue to adhere them. Finally, I added some Linen Thread (#104199) to some True Gentleman Buttons (#145596) and hot glued them to the flower centers. Finally, I tucked in some springs die cut with the Petals & More Thinlits (#145655) to add some filler.

Artisan Design Team - Snowflake Showcase

 

Welcome to special Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. On this hop, we are featuring the Snowflake Showcase Promotion featuring exclusive stamps, dies and accessories. Demonstrators have exclusive preorder access until the end of Octobers and customers can purchase, November 1-30 or while supplies last.

We were asked to create two cards...one with just stamps and the other using stamps and coordinating dies. Also, some of the team are featuring the Snow is Glistening stamp set (#149742) while others (like me) are featuring the Happiness Surrounds stamp set (#149744).

My first card focuses on using just the stamps. I know this promotion is called the "Snowflake Promotion" but this particular set is extremely versatile so I wanted to show you just how easy it is to create cards any time.

I kept things vivid with a color pallet of Melon Mango, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green. The striped flower in this set really peaked my interest, so I spent some time exploring the possibilities. I love the look of stamping one direction and then turning it so that the center hatches are at a 90 degree angle.

 
The sentimens in this set are positive, fun, and uplifiting. I stamped this one and punched it out with a circle punch to create a fun tag embellishment. I added my favorite Linen Thread and some rhinestones to finish the look.

For my second card I focused on using the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits Dies (#149692). This die set is jam-packed with some of the most beautiful snowflakes, but here again, my focus was on creating a more versatile card that can be used year-round. I kept the same color pallet and stamped a variety of colorful flowers and then cut them with the matching dies. This die set also comes with some great "greenery" that can be used in a variety of ways.

I used a Simply Scored Scoring Tool (#122334) to add simple embossed diagonal stripes. Next, I heat embossed the greeting with VersaMark ink and White Embossing Powder on a Basic Black cardstock strip. Finally, I added a few rhinestones to select flower centers and around the floral cluster.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop - Petal Promenade Suite

Welcome to another Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. On this hop, we are focusing on the Petal Promenade Suite on pages 106-107 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. If you are hopping, you should have just arrived from visiting Charlet Mallett. I love every single one of her projects and those flowers...are wonderful! As a matter of fact, I have seen most of the projects on today's hop, and you don't want to miss a single one.

This entire suite is so romantic. There are many things to love about these products. I especially like the Beautiful Promenade stamp set (#146842) because it is so versatile. For my card I stamped three large flower and matching inside layer in Fresh Fig, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie ink.

 

For the flower centers I added small dots of White Craft Ink and then heat embossed them with White Embossing Powder. I stamped the leaves with Old Olive ink and then used Old Olive Stampin' Blends to add color. Classic Ink is water-based and the Stampin' Blends are alcohol-based, so they work well together. I used the coordinating Beautiful Layers Thinlits Dies (#147043) to die cut the stamped images and I also die cut a few additional leaves from Mossy Meadow cardstock. The sentiment is also stamped in Fresh Fig ink.

 

For the background, I embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Tuffed 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder (#146335). Next, I mounted the panel on a top-folding card base and arranged the flowers and leaves in the top center of the card. After I adhered the stamped images, I added even more interest with various sizes of pearls.

   

I have a little bonus project to share today as well. I pulled together this sweet, little pillow box using the stamps and dies from the same set. I started with a Kraft Pillow Box (#147018) and applied Mossy Meadow ink with a sponge dauber. The white polka dots resists most of the ink and it gives you endless color possibilities. Just remember, the box is kraft, therefore not all colors (especially lighter ones) will show up true to their original shade.

 

I wanted to achieve a chalkboard effect, so I stamped the sentiment and frame with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. I also used a Whisper White watercolor pencil to lightly shade in the corners to add to the effect. Finally, I stamped and die cut several of the flowers/leaves to create a sweet bouquet. I also had to do a little bit of additional trimming on some of the flowers. I have to confess that I don't remember what colors I used for the flowers. I think it was either Highland Heather and Grapefruit Grove with Mossy Meadow leaves.
