It's time for our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. Our Fancy Friday team consists of some of the most talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators around. If you are hopping with us, you should have just arrived from visiting my good friend, Cindy Schuster. Cindy recently started working as a Concept Artist at Stampin' Up! Isn't that amazing! I am so happy for her!
Our challenge this month is large font love! If you look at the Annual Catalog, you will see that big fonts/sentiments are very popular right now. I am a typography geek, so this makes me very happy. :)
For this challenge I used the gorgeous "just breathe" sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set with beautiful roses from Graceful Garden. Do you see where I am going with this? My thought process was "stop and smell the roses".
To get the look of an entire garden from only two flower stamps and one set of leaves, I used the masking technique. I used StazOn Jet Black ink on the smooth side of some Canson XL 140 cardstock. I started with a light wash of Melon Mambo ink refill for the flowers, but I just wasn't happy with the look, so I added Berry Burst ink. The flower centers are Daffodil Delight; the leaves are Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive, and the sky is a light wash of Pacific Point ink.
After everything was completely dry, I trimmed down the panel and sponged some Early Espresso ink around the edges. Then I mounted it on a Basic Black card base. In keeping with the theme of the card, I resisted the temptation to add any more embellishments.
I can't wait to see what the other Fancy Friday team members have created. Be sure to hop on over to visit my amazing friend, Jeanna Bohanon.
