This week at the Global Design Project challenge blog we are CASEing this lovely card by Tanja Kolar.
I love Tanja's card, so I didn't stray too far from her original concept. I kept the same layout and color pallet, but I am not a big fan of dragon flies, so I decided to go with my favorite winged insect, a butterfly. Here is my version of Tanja's card...
I really love the Graceful Garden stamp set, so don't be surprised if you see me use it often. I stamped and embossed the smaller rose from the set with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. It looks so lovely on the Soft Sky cardstock background. I also stamped the same flower image with Soft Sky ink on a layer of Whisper White cardstock to give a little bit of interest to the bottom layer. The sentiment is also from the same set. I stamped it with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.
I die cut a piece of silver glimmer paper with the medium butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlits. I wanted it to be a solid image, so I die cut with less pressure (just enough to cut the edges) and then I added clear packing tape to the back to keep the smaller pieces intact. I also cut the same butterfly from Soft Sky cardstock and added it on top. The rhinestones help draw you eye into the focal image as well. I mounted the butterflies onto two squares cut with the Stitched Shape Framelits and then layered everything on to the front panel. I also used some retired silver thread to create a thread nest for the focal image.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
