We have a great color challenge this week at the Global Design Project challenge blog. I am totally in love with this color combo. It works for a lot of different styles and it is amazing as a floral pallet.
I mentioned in my last blog post that I really love the Graceful Garden stamp set. I especially love this rose stamp. I stamped it several times on Canson XL 140 lb. watercolor paper (non SU) with our Basic Black Archival Ink Pad.
After stamping, I gave the background a light wash with some Crumb Cake ink refill diluted with water. Then I built the color until I had the look I wanted. I used a heat tool to dry everything completely before moving on to using the same technique on the leaves and then finally the flowers. I placed a heavy object on top of the panel and let everything dry flat for a few hours.
I really wanted to let the roses show through, so I cut a strip of vellum card stock and added the sentiment on top of the vellum. I die cut several layers of Whisper White cardstock with the Lovely Words Thinlits and stacked them to create a thicker embellishment. I cut the top layer from Berry Burst cardstock. Next, I stamped the sentiment from All Things Thanks with VersaMark ink on Basic Black cardstock and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.
I used a strand from some Burlap Ribbon to wrap around the card front before attaching everything to a top-folding card base made with Berry Burst Cardstock. Finally, I removed the backing from some White Perfect Accents and added them to the sentiment strip using mini glue dots.
I know I say this every time, but we really would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
