We are CASEing my talented friend, Michelle Last this week at the Global Design Project challenge blog. I adore this card by Michelle and if it were up to me, I wouldn't change a thing, but that would make for a boring CASE challenge, wouldn't it?
I decided to take different elements from Michelle's card and use them on my project. For example, I love the embossed background, so I incorporated dry embossing as well as using a similar layout and colors. We have several products retiring at the end of May (or until supplies run out) so I wanted to feature a few of my favorites before it is too late.
Classy Designer buttons are retiring, so I decided to feature them on some felt flowers made using the retiring Flower Fair thinlits dies. It is difficult to die cut felt with thinlits, but the flowers in this set aren't too detailed so they work fairly well on the thinner felt squares you can by at the craft store. It helps to use the Precision Base Plate covered with a piece of plain copier paper under the felt and then run it through the Big Shot several times.
It isn't a secret that I adore polka dots, so I had to incorporate leaves made with some Cucumber Crush In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks before it goes away. Most of the leaves were die cut with the same Flower Fair thinlits dies with exception of the the smaller flower which was hand cut. I hand stitched the flowers together using Linen Thread and then used hot glue to attach them to the project.
I could have easily made a card, but since the flowers are a little bulky and harder to mail, I decided to make a Mini Treat Bag with some bright white 20 lb. paper and then emboss it with the retiring Large Polka Dot embossing folder. All-in-all I adore how it all turned out and while there isn't any stamping, I do love the bright & cheerful colors and the texture that the felt gives to this project.
We would love to have you play along with us this week. Be sure to check out what the other talented designers/players have created for this fun challenge at the Global Design Project Challenge Blog.
