We have a sketch challenge this week over on the Global Design Project challenge blog.
WOW! Did I ever S-T-R-E-T-C-H the sketch this time. Instead of putting an additional panel on my card, I decided to let the flowers act as the focal point. I used quite a bit of masking to achieve the floral grouping. The stamp set is Penned & Painted. Before I started, I stamped several rough drafts of the design. Once I was happy with the look, I stamped everything on Shimmery White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
To color the images, I used an Aqua Painter filled with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol. Typical rubbing alcohol is around 70%, but I prefer the 90% because it contains less water and dries much faster. You can purchase it at most pharmacies. The ink refills I used are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay. The orange was a mixture of Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.
The word "hello" is die cut from the Hello You Thinlits out of Basic Black cardstock. I cut the word four times and layered them on top of one another. I also used a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen to add some sparkle to the word. The background splatters were made by flicking the brush end of a stampin' write marker with the cap. Honestly, I think I liked it better before I added the splatters, so I should have left well-enough alone. If I had to do it all over again, I would leave off the splatters.
I applied the panel to a top-folding card base and finished it off with some rhinestones/clear sequins and a little bit of twine.
