Welcome to our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. Our theme this month is "Just Because". Use anything you want either new or newly retired...just because you like it, just because you need a challenge, just because you needed a card ASAP to send. You should have just arrived from visiting my very talented friend, Marisa Gunn.
I have seen a lot of people use the Botanical Builders Framelits, but not so many are using the coordinating stamp set, Botanical Blooms. So, my first "just because" is that I needed to show this stamp set some love. My second reason is that I need a one-layer card to mail to a friend and this set works great. My final reason is that the weather has been a little gloomy and I just wanted to make a bright and cheerful card.
The first thing I did is stamp the greeting from the Time of Year host set. To get the color nice and dark I stamped it several times using a MISTI stamping tool. The final time I used VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I knew that I would not be using any additional embellishments, so the shiny sentiment makes a big impact on the finished card.
I used a boatload of colors on this card. Here are the color combos:
Large flower = Watermelon Wonder, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze
Small flower = Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder
Large leaf = Always Artichoke, Garden Green
Small leaf #1 = Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke
Small Leaf #2 = Calypso Coral, Watermelon Wonder
Finally, I used an Uniball Signo White Gel Pen to add accents to the stamens and leaves. The pen is retired from Stampin' Up! but you can find it in most art stores or on-line.
One very helpful tip for stamping solid images is to use a Stampin' Pierce Mat beneath your card front. I put a sheet of scrap copier paper underneath the card front to protect the pad from getting inky.
I am excited to see what the other Fancy Friday team members have created. Now be sure to hop on over to visit my super talented friend, Sue Plote. She is amazing!
I WOULD LOVE TO BE YOUR DEMONSTRATOR!
If you are in the United States and need a demonstrator, then you can order your supplies in my online store here.
Have a blessed day!
