Welcome back to another 2015-16 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop. This time we were given our choice of a few different products to feature. I am using the Basket of Wishes stamp set for my projects today. If you are hopping with us, you should have just come from visiting my very good friend, Cindy Schuster.
I generally make a lot of cards for my blog, but to honest my passion is making 3D items like this adorable little box. The Baker's Box Thinlits die along with the Big Shot die cutting machine makes it oh-so-easy. I die cut two pieces of this beautiful Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper. With just a bit of strong adhesive I assembled this box in only a few minutes.
You may notice that I distress the edges of many of my projects. I don't do it on every project, but I do use it a lot, so I thought I would explain. First and foremost, I like the way it gives my projects a finished look and truly it fits my style. Second, it can disguise a world of sins. By "sins" I mean that sometimes (especially when you work with darker designer series paper) the paper will crack at the scores and the white from the paper core peeks through. Distressing the score marks and edges hides some of this and gives my projects a bit of a vintage/grungy look that I just happen to like.
I adore rosettes, but it is difficult to use them on cards. One of the reasons I love 3D's so much is that I can add embellishes without having to worry about sending them through the mail. I also love the copper accessories that Stampin' Up! has available right now. The copper foil sheets are perfect for die cutting and add a wonderful touch of elegance to all your projects, but they are especially wonderful for Fall/Autumn. I am over-the-moon crazy in love with those copper Mini Pinecones. I tied one on with a couple of strands from the 5/8" Burlap Ribbon. I love the organic touch it adds to my projects.
TIP: If you want to make these boxes for your Thanksgiving dinner guests, then leave the bottom of the box open. Completely decorate the box, add your goodies at the last minute, then seal the bottom. It is always a good thing when you can work ahead.
If you are already going through the hop, you should have just arrived here from visiting our Artisan Team Leader and my good friend, Cindy Schuster. When you leave here you will travel on to visit the amazing Inge Groot. Our team this year is super talented and you are going to love all the fabulous projects so be sure to visit them all.
I WOULD LOVE TO BE YOUR DEMONSTRATOR!
If you are in the United States and need a demonstrator, then you can order your supplies in my online store here.
