Artisan Design Team Blog Hop...Thoughtful Banners

Welcome back to another 2015-16 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop. This week is an open hop, so you will see a variety of different products featured. I decided to focus on the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and coordinating Duet Banner punch. I originally intended to create a Christmas in July project, but ended up with this very versatile project instead. These clear mini treat boxes make the most adorable gifts. I especially love how great they look when you stack them. Wouldn't these be great wedding favors, New Year's Eve treats, or even picnic treats for the upcoming 4th of July?

It is difficult to see in these photos, but I lined the front, top, and back with a printed acetate sheet. Each piece is 5-7/8" and scored 2 inches from each end. After I filled the boxes with candy, I inserted the printed acetate over the top. FYI, each box holds approximately 14-15 Hershey's Kisses (just in case you are wondering). Also, the bows were made with the 5/8" Mini Striped Ribbon in Delightful Dijon (gold) and the Tip Top Taupe (Silver).

Global Design Project #GDP042 Sketch Challenge

We have another fabulous sketch by Teneale Williams this week over at the Global Design Project challenge blog.

I really liked the color combo from last week's challenge (Night of Navy, Whisper White, & Sweet Sugarplum) so I decided to make another card using the same colors this week.

I used some of the beautiful Floral Boutique DSP for the background. I borrowed the sentiment from Birthday Blooms and stamped it with Night of Navy ink. I also die cut a flourish from the Flourish Thinlits from Night of Navy cardstock. The flower is from the Penned & Painted stamp set, but this week I stamped both layers with Sweet Sugarplum (instead of using Rose Red for the shadows).

A little sponging around the edges and some splatters help give interest to the sentiment.

Flashback to the 80’s! Fancy Friday Blog Hop

"Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "Super Freak", "Funky Town", "Sweet Dreams", "Footloose", "Let's Get Physical", "Flashdance", "Fame", "Dirty Dancing","Pretty in Pink"...we are flashing back to the 80's this month on our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. Talk about bringing up memories...the 80's is MY era...that's right! What do I remember most? Big hair, baggy clothes, funky colors, and most of all...dance music. I think I danced my way all the way through the 80's. Jeanna had this "brilliant" idea that we should share a picture of ourselves from the 80's. This is me in 1989 rockin' the big hair.

It is so much fun to look back and reflect on the good times. I didn't have a care in the world back then. So now, on to the blog hop. You should have just arrived my from visiting my fantabulous friend, Cathy Caines! She's da bomb!

The 80's were all about bright colors and patterns, but seriously, I had a difficult time trying to remember the artwork of the 80's and I definitely had a hard time trying to incorporate that into my project. I ended up with these cute little treat boxes made with the new Pop of Pink Suite by Stampin' Up!

Aren't these just the most adorable little treat boxes ever? I made several of these to give to my team at our meeting this past weekend. I filled them with some paper shreds and an empty ink spot.

I hope you like today's project. I can't wait to see what the other Fancy Friday team members have created. Now get down and boogie, oogie, oggie over to visit the uber talented Jennifer Timko.

Global Design Project #GDP041 Color Challenge

We have a color challenge this week over at the Global Design Project challenge blog.

I am excited to finally get the opportunity to use some of the awesome products in the new Stampin' Up! annual catalog. I especially love the Detailed Floral Thinlits die that I used for the background on this card. It is beautiful and versatile too. It is one of the very first items I put on my "must have" list.

This is one of the most AMAZING catalogs that I can remember. It was truly difficult to narrow down my first order. Of course, you know I love everything flowers so I was intrigued with the new Bunch of Blossoms stamp set and coordinating Blossom Builder Punch. To build this flower I stamped eight small petals and eight large petals with Sweet Sugarplum ink for the solid base layer. This is a multi-layer stamp set, so I needed a deeper color for the shadows. I used Rose Red ink for the second layer and the outline. I cannot believe how well these two colors work together. Next, I punched out all the petals and glued the petals together in groups of four and offset the petals in each layer. I borrowed the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and stamped them in Night of Navy ink.

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop...More Love and Affection

Welcome back to another 2015-16 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop. If you are already going through the hop, you should have just arrived here from visiting my good friend, Cindy Schuster. When you leave here you will travel on to visit the very talented Inge Groot. You will be amazed at all the fabulous projects created by the Artisan Design Team so be sure to go all the way through the blog hop!

The Affectionately Yours Suite is so much fun to work with. I used the Love & Affection photopolymer stamp set along with the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP. I made two different cards using the same basic supplies with a few additions. Let's start with the card on the left.

I started by stamping some of the smaller flowers from the stamp set with Whisper White Craft Stampin' Ink on a Crumb Cake cardstock panel. I heat set the ink and then I stamped the greeting with Basic Black ink. Next, I sponged Early Espresso Ink around the edges and wrapped on some Linen Thread. Each flower has two layers. The bottom layer was punched with the Pansy Punch and the smaller flower was die cut with the smaller flower from the Botanical Builder Framelits. The leaves were also die cut using the Rose Garden Thinlits. I topped each flower with Classy Designer Buttons and mounted the entire panel on a top-folding Crumb Cake card base.

For my second card I cut five 1"x4" strips of designer series paper, sponged ink around the edges, and mounted them on a Crumb Cake card base.

I used the new Layering Squares Framelits to die cut two squares. The larger square is from Night of Navy cardstock and the smaller square is from Crumb Cake cardstock. I stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink. The flower and leaves were die cut with the Botanical Builder Framelits.

Global Design Project #GDP040 CASE Challenge

We have another sketch challenge this week over at the Global Design Project challenge blog. We are CASEing this great card by Shawn de Oliveria this week

Shawn's card has so many beautiful elements and since I love flowers, this was an easy card to CASE. I decided to stay with the same basic layout (flipped), the same basic colors, flowers, and twine. I just received a great big box of goodies from the new annual catalog, so I was eager to try out some new stamp sets. I am quite pleased about how easy it is to work with the new Penned & Painted photopolymer stamp set. I tried several different approaches to using this set, so let me tell you what I ended up doing.

First, I stamped a flower outline, covered it with a mask, and then stamped the leaves. (I used Whisper White cardstock and Basic Black Archival Ink.) By working on one flower at a time, I was able to properly adjust the spacing between flowers. After I had stamped line image of all the flowers/leaves, I used Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp the base color of the leaves. Be sure to keep the masks on the flowers. Next, I stamped the shadows using Old Olive ink.

This is what it will look like after I removed the masks. Next I stamped the color layers for the flowers. I used Daffodil Delight/Crushed Curry and Soft Sky/Marina Mist stamp pads. I originally stamped the big dots with Daffodil Delight ink, but I decided to go back and re-stamp them with Crushed Curry. I actually like the slightly offset look I achieved by doing this. I love how I was able to achieve a watercolor look by stamping...this is a beautiful set.

I mounted the stamped panel to a side-folding card base made from Whisper White Thick Cardstock and added a 1" strip of Marina Mist polka dot DSP.

Next, I used the new Labeler Alphabet to stamp the sentiment. I found that it is much easier to stamp the letters individually rather than try to stamp an entire word at once. Finally, I added some Linen Thread and some clear sequins (by Darice).

Artisan Design Team Blog Hop...Love & Affection

This is one of the most exciting times of the year at Stampin' Up! because it is the day that the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog goes live. Most of our projects on this blog hop will feature either a new stamp set or the new In-Colors. I decided to use the new Love & Affection photopolymer stamp along with four of the five new In-Colors.

I stamped this in Basic Black Archival Ink on Shimmery White cardstock using the masking technique to overlay some of the flowers and leaves. The ink refills I used to watercolor this card are Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Sweet Sugarplum and Peekaboo Peach. (I left off Dapper Denim but you can see what that looks like in the picture below. While these colors aren't necessarily designed to go together, they do make a pretty good color combo.

The greeting is also from the Love & Affection stamp set. I also created some splatters with my AquaPainter.
