Welcome back to another 2015-16 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop. We are a group of international demonstrators selected by Stampin' Up! to represent the company on our blogs and on social media. If you are already going through the hop, you should have just arrived here from visiting my good friend, Cindy Schuster. When you leave here you will travel on to visit the very talented Inge Groot. On this blog hop we were asked to feature the Gift Box Punch Board and the Bow Builder Punch. You will be amazed at all the fabulous projects created by the Artisan Design Team so be sure to go all the way through the blog hop!
I have to tell you that this particular project was a real challenge. I mean, seriously...how do you do something different with the gift box punch board or the bow builder punch? Haven't the options already been exhausted? You have to realize something about me...if there is a way, I am going to try my very best to find it. So this is my project. I know it is a little "different" but who wants to be ho-hum. I say "Go Big or Go Home"! LOL! So here is my "BIG" sunflower made with the Bow Builder Punch.
So let's start by talking about the box. I used some kraft cardstock and the Gift Box Punch Board to create a 4" x 4" x 1-3/4" box. Then I sponged Early Espresso ink onto the edges. I knew that anything that I added to the box would need to be removable, so I created a 12" x 2-1/4" band from some Farmer's Market DSP. Next, I wrapped the box with linen thread and also created a thread nest on top of the box being care not to permanently attach anything to the box itself.
Now, let's discuss the flower. First, I punched 23 bow tails out of some Delightful Dijon polkadot DSP and sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink. Next, I used a bone folder to give the "petals" a curl before gluing them to the edge of a 2" cardstock circle. I used 12 petals on the outer/bottom layer and eleven on the inner/top layer. Next, I punched 13 bow pieces from Early Espresso cardstock, sponged the edges, and used a bone folder to help break down the fibers a bit so they wouldn't crease/tear when folded. I used a hot glue gun to create the flower center. After I assembled the flower I added some die cut leaves using the Rose Garden Thinlits dies and Mossy Meadow cardstock. Finally, I stamped the greeting from the Circle of Spring stamp set.
The Artisan Design Team will be hopping again in a few weeks, so be sure to check back often. Inge Groot is next on our blog hop so be sure to head on over and check out what she and the the rest of the Artisan Design Team team have in store by clicking on the button below.
