We are back with our monthly Fancy Friday Blog Hop. With Trick or Treat this weekend, we thought it would be fun to make some fun and easy treats. A few years ago it was really popular to make little pumpkins with the Gift Bow Bigz L die. This project is basically smaller version of that same idea but I used the Stampin' Up! Bow Builder Punch instead.
One of the things I love about this project is that you can use either cardstock or designer series paper. (Above: I used Tangerine Tango polka dot paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack.)
With trick or treat just a day away, I thought I would show you how I adapted them for Thanksgiving. It's the same concept, except I used Pumpkin Pie card stock. Card stock is thicker and a little more difficult to work with, but the results are similar. The greeting is from the "And Many More" stamp set and the Old Olive leaves were die cut with the small flower from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. They are the perfect size for individually wrapped Kraft caramels. Here is a little photo tutorial to show you exactly how to make them. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
I needed brads with extra long ends and the Candy Dots Brad Bases are perfect. The Mossy Meadow leaves are punched with the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and they help hold everything closed. I slightly separated the ends of the brad and tied on a piece of linen thread to help secure the tops. To open them, all you have to do is lift the leaves off and then slip one of the sides off the brad. Here's a little tip: When you assemble the pumpkin, stack the pieces clock wise and then pull the sides over the brad in the same order. Also, it is easier if you put three of the sides on the brad, insert the candy, and then finish closing it. You might find needle-nosed pliers helpful when putting things together.
