The 2015-2016 catalog is here so we thought we would feature new stamps and products this month on our blog hop. For my card I used the beautiful hostess stamp set called Best Thoughts. This has to be one of my favorite sets ever and you will be seeing me use it a lot in the weeks to come. Actually, I used it on our blog hop last month too, but this time I am using it with a technique called faux alcohol ink coloring. Basically it is exactly the same as coloring with an Aqua Painter except I filled it with 91% Isopropyl rubbing alcohol instead of water. The alcohol keeps the paper from pilling so you can color on regular Whisper White cardstock instead of watercolor paper. You really need to give it a try. It is a great way to stretch your supplies.
I used the 2014-2016 In Colors as my color pallet which takes all the guesswork out of selecting colors because they all work great together.
Let me give you a quick run down of the steps I used to make this card. First I stamped the flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Next I collected ink in the lids of my ink pads (you can use reinkers too), and used an Aqua Painter filled with rubbing alcohol to color the flowers. Start out with colors more diluted and then go back in with more intense colors and then allow to dry. Color the background the same way with Lost Lagoon ink and let that dry as well. Create masks for the flowers with sticky paper and cover them completely. Use the Hardwood background stamp and Lost Lagoon ink to stamp the background then carefully remove the sticky paper from the flowers. The sentiment is stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits.
Now, be sure to head on over to see the "fancy" projects that and the rest of the Fancy Friday team have for you.
