One day last week my dear, sweet friend, Cindy Schuster, sent me a text and asked me not to look at her blog until I got my "surprise" in the mail. Well, it finally came today and I was thrilled to receive this beautiful card. I wanted to let her know how much I appreciated her shout out on her blog, so this is the card I made in response.
Life has calmed down a little...I say that knowing we are having a new granite kitchen counter installed later this week, hoards of family are about to descend on us for the July 4th holiday, and our blackberry bushes are loaded and will be turning ripe any time. Hmmmmm...maybe I spoke too soon.
Now that I have filled you in on my crazy life, I guess I should tell you a little about today's card. When my creativity is a little low, I sometimes reach for some designer series paper for inspiration. I love flowers and this new English Garden DSP doesn't disappoint...it is so pretty.
I inked the greeting from "A Whole Lot of Lovely" hostess set with Mossy Meadow ink and then removed the ink from the flowers with a blender pen. I will be the first to admit that it takes some time to do it this way, but I like the end result. After I removed the ink, I colored the flowers with a Blackberry Bliss marker, breathed on the stamp to re-activate the ink, and then stamped on Whisper White cardstock. I also gave some subtle distressing to everything by sponging Crumb Cake in on all the edges.
For the inside of the card I used the new "Garden in Bloom" stamp set for the greeting. For the envelope, I mimicked the look of the DSP with some of the flower stamps from the same set.
