It's time again for our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. This month we are focusing on retiring stamps. Now, before you rush to point out that these sets are not retiring, let me just say that I realize that. Truth is, life has been difficult lately. I won't go into details, but I am trying to give support to others in our family who are facing some major struggles. I haven't stamped in weeks. I just happened to have this card I made a while back and so I had a choice to make...either use it for the blog hop, or pass this month...so I guess it is obvious which decision I made.
I used a technique that I call faux water coloring. You see, one of the biggest problems with water coloring on Whisper White cardstock is that it is extremely difficult to keep the paper from breaking down and giving it a fuzzy look. To solve that problem, I filled my aqua painter with 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol instead of water. (Although it isn't as common as 70% rubbing alcohol, it is readily available in the first aid department of most major grocery stores or drug stores.) Then I collected the ink in the lids of my ink pads and colored as I normally would. I stamped the image with a Memento ink pad.
Now, be sure to head on over to see the "fancy" techniques that and the rest of the Fancy Friday team have for you.
