It's time again for our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. This month we are focusing on techniques. I am not sure my card is exactly a "technique", but we recently had some minor water damage to our home due to snow and ice, so I needed to keep this simple. Ironically, I had just finished cleaning and organizing, so it was a bit of a headache to move everything out, not to mention it has cluttered up the rest of the house. Hopefully things back to the way they should be very soon.
Foil is super hot, hot, hot in stationary and paper crafting right now and with SU! gold and silver card stock it is really easy to add this trendy and elegant look to your projects. For this card I cut 6" x 1/2" strips of Basic Black and Very Vanilla cardstock and 1/8" strips of Gold Foil cardstock. Then I just attached them to the front of a 5.5" x 4.25" card base and trimmed off the excess. (TIP: start in the center and work your way out...that way your stripes are centered.)
I stamped the monogram with the new Sophisticated Serifs Photopolymer stamp set (#137161) with StazOn Jet Black ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then punched out with a 1-3/4" circle punch. I layered it with Basic Black and Gold Foil card stock cut with various circle dies. To hold down on the bulk and keep mailing easy, the monogram is flush with the card. The finished project is so elegant and very classy. Make a complete set to give as gifts to family and friends.
Now, be sure to head on over to see the "fancy" techniques that Erica Cerwin and the rest of the Fancy Friday team have for you.
