Fancy Friday Blog Hop

We're back! That's right...we had so much fun working together last year that we decided to start a new blog hop on the last Friday of the month called "Fancy Friday". Just like last year, if you are following along, then you should have just come from Cindy Schuster's blog. When you leave here you will visit Erica Cerwin.

This month we are working with the gorgeous color palette found on this chair from faceliftfurniture.com. The way this challenge works is really simple. We could use any or all of the colors in this palette to create a stamped project...that is basically all there is to it. You get a chance to play along too! Just create a stamped project using any or all of these colors (plus neutrals) and post a comment on any of our blogs with a link to your project. Scroll down to the end to see the complete rules.

OK, so do you want to see what I made? It was inspired by a greeting card that I recently saw at Target. It is really out of my comfort zone, but I knew right away that I wanted to give this a try.

Isn't this so much fun? I used the bird from the Choose Happiness stamp set and four of the colors from the palette. This card may look somewhat clean and simple but don't be fooled...it is really FANCY! If you are going to make this card you are going to want to break out that Stamp-a-ma-jig and a heat tool wouldn't hurt either. You see, I started by making 1" pencil marks and then stamped the bird in various colors in a repeating pattern. Simple, right? Well, hold on there...to be honest, it wasn't terribly difficult, but here are a few tips to help you along the way.

Start on the top row center and work your way out. Be sure to clean your stamp after each color and make sure each image is completely dry before you stamp a new color. That is where a heat tool comes in handy! Just be careful not to overheat or scorch your paper. After you complete the top row, move down to the second row and do it all again. It would probably be a good idea to mask off the other areas of the card front as you go. I don't care how hard you try, you are gonna get ink where it shouldn't be. You may also want to stop often and wash your hands before moving the masks.

Now let's talk about the sentiment. Did you notice that it says "tweet" instead of "sweet". Here is how I did that. (Be sure to click on the images to get a close look.)

Flower Patch Sweet Treat Envelope

The Holiday Mini Catalog goes live on Thursday, August 28, 2014 and I thought it would be fun to create a sweet little treat with the new Gift Card Envelope Thinlits Die. It is the perfect size to hold one of those delectable Ghirardelli chocolates and oh so easy to create. After all...who in their right mind wouldn't like to receive a delicious chocolate treat!

Using my Big Shot Machine, I die cut some Calypso Coral DSP from the Subtles Backgrounds DSP Stack, wrapped it around a treat, and tied it closed with some Linen Thread. Seriously, it doesn't get much easier than that!

On the front I just stamped a flower from the Flower Patch photopolymer stamp set and die cut it with the coordinating Flower Fair framelits die set. For the flower center I stamped the greeting from the Hello There hostess set and punched it out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. The flower is attached to the front of the envelope with dimensionals on either side of the linen thread. That way it is easy to open without destroying the packaging. I just think this turned out so "sweet" and I can hardly wait to make more.

 

Bloom with Hope Note Card

Today we have a sweet little note card that I created using the Bloom with Hope Hostess stamp set and my Blendabilities markers. I stamped the image on Very Vanilla cardstock and then masked it off and stamped it again below to make it a bigger, fuller flower. Then I used Rich Razzelberry/Daffodil Delight Blendabilities to color the image. The sentiment is from the Blooming with Kindness and stamped with StazOn Jet Black ink. The Old Olive splatters from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set add just the right touch. Of course, you know I had to sponge the edges with Early Espresso ink. I trimmed the panel down and mounted it on gold foil dsp and then onto a 3"x3" Basic Black notecard.

Choose Happiness Notecard

Things have been super busy around here lately, but I wanted to share a little 3"x3" notecard that I made using the Choose Happiness Stamp Set. We have been using this set over at Classy & Chic Stamp Class by Mail Boutique. We promised that we will never share our exclusive kit projects online, so while this isn't a card that we will be  making in our class, it certainly is very much along the lines of what you might expect to create. We would love to have you join us!

Catching Up!

Several weeks ago I showed you some cards that I made using the circle dies. You can see that post here. I thought I would show you some more cards that use this same technique only this time I used the Flower Pot DSP to create my samples. Here are some cards that I made as convention swaps.

I know you must be wondering where I have been lately. Well, I came home from convention only to have our blackberries coming in faster than we could pick them...sometimes 5-6 gallons per day. So I have been making lots of jam, jelly, and blackberry cobblers. Don't get me wrong...I am very grateful for the abundance, but it was a lot to keep up with. School is getting to kick into high gear and I have been preparing for that as well.
