It's a new year, a new month, and a new box of Stampin' Up! goodies! Welcome to the weekly blog hop presented by the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. 2014 has started out really crazy...some good things and some not so good things, but overall I feel really blessed.
I don't know if it is because I am recovering from the holidays or what, but I have really had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h my creativity this week and step out of my comfort zone. Today I have two cards that are similar. The first card is really stepped up with lots of fun embellishments. There's embossing, twine, buttons, clips...but I think the end result is a really fun card with a retro vibe.
I used the Retro Fresh DSP from the new spring mini catalog as a jumping off point. I love this big greeting from the new Starburst Saying stamp set (#133185) and it coordinates perfectly with the Starburst Framelits Dies (#132967). I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock and then heat embossed it with some gorgeous Tangerine Tango embossing powder. Even though it is cold and snowy outside, this card is really warm and cheery. I think it would be the perfect card to send for a birthday or just about any celebration. I know that it is difficult to tell from the photo, but I created the card front and then added the entire thing to a card base using dimensionals. That is how I was able to wrap the twine around the sides and add the paper clip to the top.
As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I realize that some cards are just too involved for a class or workshop. With that thought in mind, my second card is a little more workshop friendly. Yes, there is still embossing, but that is as fancy as it gets. As an extra benefit, this card would be much easier to mail. :)
That's all for this week's project. Now be sure to head on over to see what fun projects Erica Cerwin and the rest of the Artisan Design Team have in store for you! Don't miss a single project...
