It's a new month and we are working with a new box of supplies. This month most of the product is Fall/Thanksgiving-themed, which makes me smile. This is my favorite time of year. I love everything about Autumn...especially the beautiful colors of the season! As always, it is such a pleasure to be working alongside such talented ladies. I feel so incredibly blessed to know each of them. We are really getting to know one another and developing some really good friendships along the way. Every week I am astounded at the incredible projects that each one of these incredible women bring to the hop...they just blow me away with their creativity. Just as a reminder, if you are hopping along, then you should have arrived her from Cindy Schuster's blog, Nutmeg Creations. When you finish here, you will head on over to visit Erica Cerwin at Pink Buckeroo Designs.
Several of my projects over the past few weeks have been 3D's, so I thought it would be nice to make a card. When I think of the colors of Autumn, I don't typically think including blue, but I don't really know why not. These really are the colors of the season...Chocolate Chip (for the earth), Crushed Curry (for the leaves and beautiful fall flowers), and Soft Sky (for the beautiful, blue sky). I am really enjoying the new Sweater Weather DSP for this very reason.
I started by creating a card base by die-cutting a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the Oval Accent Bigz Die (#127005). I placed the fold of the card inside of the cut line. Next I die cut an additional piece of Very Vanilla CS using the same die, but this time I cut the entire design. I ran that piece back through the Big Shot and dry embossed it with the Pretty Print embossing folder (#132175). Just in case I forget to mention it, I sponged just about everything on this card with Early Espresso ink. I layered on two strips of the Sweater Weather DSP and trimmed it to match the card front.
Next, I used the Window Frames Framelits to cut three more layers of DSP. A little trick I like to use when using thinlit dies is to cut additional pieces of card stock the same size and layer them together to get the look of chipboard. That is what I did on the bottom layer (largest frame). The second layer has dimensionals behind it and the smallest layer is mounted directly on the middle layer. Then I stamped the greeting from the Harvest of Thanks stamp set (#131736) with Chocolate Chip ink and die cut it with the coordinating Apothecary Accents framelit die. I attached that layer with dimensionals. Finally, I created a bow with Soft Sky Seam Binding Ribbon, added a Very Vintage button and attached it with glue dots.
That's all for today. Now be sure to head on over to see what Erica Cerwin and the rest of the Artisan Design Team have in store for you! Don't miss a single project...
