Welcome back to day seven of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop. Today's card has a little bit of everything...traditional elements, digital elements, and digital die-cutting. Let me just start out by saying that I know that a lot of you get frustrated when I share a card that uses digital elements and especially when I use it in conjunction with my electronic cutter. But I do have quite a few followers who really do love that sort of thing, so this card is really more for them.
Everything about the outside of this card is done traditionally except the telephone. I used an image found in My Digital Studio, pulled it into my Silhouette Cameo software and cut it out electronically. I was really unsure if we were able to do this type of thing for our Artisan entries, so I called the home office and double-checked. Even then, going out on the "cutting edge" (ahem) is a little risky, so I was still uncertain about using it. But hey, I decided to risk it and it payed off.
Here is a look at the inside of the card. I wanted to be sure that the judges knew that this was the same telephone from the MDS software digital download, so I decided to repete it in digital form. It is almost always good to repete a design element in your layouts because it gives them consistency. I really like the clean and polished feel that you get when you use MDS on the inside of cards. It is really a win-win! This particular digital element also has a fresh, youthful feel to it, so it went perfect with the outside of the card.
I thought the telephone was a little "flat", but it is really hard to add shadows to black card stock...so I did the opposite, I highlighted it while craft ink instead. I don't know how many of you actually remember telephones that look like this...very retro. My grandparents had one almost exactly like it (with numbers of course). They even had a party-line. I would bet that some of you don't even know what that is...ask a baby boomer to explain it to you sometime. LOL!
