Afternoon Daydream Kit

When you are shopping for DSP, don't forget the Simply Scrappin' Kits. Today's card is made with the Afternoon Daydream SSKand the Affection Collection stamp set. This kit is perfect for just about any occasion. It pairs elegant patterns with a fresh color combination of Basic Gray, More Mustard, Pool Party, and Primrose Petals. I found that the Rose Red Seam Binding Ribbon worked well for this card because I selected papers that only had a hint of primrose.

Things are still fairly hectic in my world right now. If home school starting wasn't enough, for some reason I got the desire to clean and organize our spare bedroom. It is basically our "catch all" room and had just gotten to the point where it couldn't catch any more. I have always wanted a place where I could wrap presents and store the supplies, so I have turned the dresser into a gift wrapping center. It is so wonderful. I have a drawer for boxes, one for bows, another for tissue, and yet another for gift bags. I am so excited to finally have everything in one place. Woo Hoo! Now when Christmas gets here I'll be ready to wrap presents to my hearts content!

Colorful Happy Birthday Card

Today's card is a little more "artsy" than my ususal offerings. When I made this card we had just finished our chapter on "light" in my son's physical science textbook, so can you guess what was going through my mind at that particular moment? ROY G. BIV! For those of you who haven't cracked a textbook in a while that stands for: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet...the colors of a rainbow. I took the colors of the rainbow and used the Tasteful Trim die to make this one. So if you have ever wondered how my brain works, now you know...LOL! The greeting is from the "You're Amazing" stamp set.

 

Betsy's Blossoms Triple-Layer Card

This is another card that I made for my recent downline meeting. Triple-layer cards are very popular right now so I wanted them to see how one was made. I used the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set for the background and Layered Labels for the focal image. Here again, I was showing them how great Summer Starfruit looks when it is put with the right colors. I used it with Cayjun Craze and Forest Foliage...beautiful colors for Autumn.

 

"I Am Creative" Convention Class Banner

I remember the other day that I had never finished my banner from the "I Am Creative" class I took at convention. The class taught by five incredibly talented concept artists from Stampin' Up! Each one took their turn sharing great ideas and insights into their style of stamping. They prepared a banner for us to make in class, but honestly I only did it half-way because I was so interested in hearing everything they had to say. The banner was perfect just the way it was, but I just couldn't stand to make it exactly like everyone else, so I tweaked it to my personal tastes.

Homeschooling is back in full-swing at our house, so please bear with me while we adjust to the new schedule. There won't be much stamping going on for a few weeks. Thankfully I still have several convention samples to share with you. I will continue to post 2-3 times per week...that's my plan at least.

Layered Labels

I made today's card to share at my recent downline meeting. I was trying to make a point that the new In-Color, Summer Starfruit, can be absolutely gorgeous when paired with the right colors. I used some beautiful papers from the beautiful Comfort Cafe DSP collection. This dsp is so warm and friendly. It makes me smile.

 

Amazing Ticket Card

The finalists blog hop is just a memory now, but you can always go back enjoy it now if for some reason you missed it. Today I am back to sharing projects I created as convention displays.

 
This card is made using the "You're Amazing" stamp set along with the "Take a Ticket" wheel. I started with a card base of Early Espresso and layered on some Crumb Cake card stock stamped in VersaMark ink. I also distressed and sponged the edges to give it a "worn" or antique feel.

I found it difficult to stamp my tickets in a straight line, so I removed the stamp from the wheel and turned it into a clear mount stamp. I used the new in-color stamps to stamp pads for the sentiment and the tickets. I love the complete coverage you get with the new stamp pads, although it did take a few attempts to get used to using them. I highly recommend that you purchase a few in your favorite colors and give them try.

2012 Artisan Finalists Blog Hop - Day 10

Can you believe that we are on the final day of our blog hop? I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.  I am sure you will agree that there are some ultra-creative and talented SU demonstrators in our group. Of course, if you are blog hopping in order, you have just arrived from Mindy (Bingamon) Backes' blog. I just love her paper-crafting style!

This is the final card that I submitted for the competition. I saved it until last because it is my absolute favorite. I fell in love with the stamp set when it was first released, but I never really got around to using it.

I really felt like I needed to show that I was capable of making more intricate cards, so I turned this card into an easle card. It is really pretty easy to make, but it adds a little novelty to your card. It also makes it really easy for the receipent to display it.

The other day I told you how I cut apart the images of one of my Stampin' Around jumbo wheels and turned parts of it into clear-mount stamps. This sentiment is from the same wheel that I used on the Faux Washi Tape card. I really wish SU would release some beautifully typeset sentiments like this one...hint, hint, hint! Oh I almost forgot to mention that I bleached out the center of the flowers so that I could color them yellow.

This precious little girl is my great niece, Patty. She has the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen. Todays project is another MDS digital hybrid 12"x12" page. It has so many layers on it that if it were made with traditional elements it would have weighed a ton. One of the many things I love about digital scrapbooking is that you can try different elements on a layout. If they don't work you can easily start over without feeling guilty about wasting paper.

I really wanted to add some "real" ribbon to this page, so I printed the background layers and the top layers seperately. I added the ribbon, bow, and button, and then placed the additional layers over it with dimensionals. I used some of the bleached seam binding ribbon that I told you about yesterday. To make the page look even more traditional, I printed the tag, trimmed it out, and slipped it between layers. I also sponged the edges of the different layers and the tag. I saved a lot of time by creating this page in MDS and then assembling it.
