The Artisan Award Winners Holiday Gallery is now up over at Stampin' Up!'s Facebook page. You can see all of the incredible projects here. This is my project for the gallery. I started by creating a box with the Petal Cone Die and modifying it to create a take out box. Then I used the heel portion of the Holiday Stocking Die and the holly leaf from the Stocking Accents die along with the Spider Web embossing folder to create a gorgeous poinsettia.
Last month I taught some of my downline to make a similar poinsettia at one of our downline meetings. My friend, Nancy Brown, filmed the demonstration so that I could share it with you. For this project I placed the smaller flower on top of the larger one. Both flowers are pretty by themselves, but when you put the two together the results are stunning. The video is a little slow-paced because I was giving a demonstration, so I tried to edit it down. It is very detailed and you should be able to get the same results if you follow the instructions on the tutorial. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I am so thankful that God has blessed me with such wonderful family and friends.Things have been super busy this weekend, but I did take the opportunity to sit down last night and create. I got the idea for this card from a cutting file that I have for my Silhouette machine. I wanted to see if I could come up with something similar using my Northern Frost Die and this is how it turned out. This card isn't difficult, but it took a hugh amount of patience to complete. Thankfully, I knew exactly what I was working toward. If I didn't, I probably would have quit about half way into the project.
The most annoying part was poking out all those tiny pieces in each snowflake...very time intensive! After "cleaning up" each snowflake, I glued each piece to a Not Quite Navy card base. Once everything was that way I wanted it, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Snow Burst textured impressions embossing folder (124096). I added some rhinestone for a little bling, tied on a bow and then assembled the card.
I seriously doubt that I will make any more of these...at least not any time soon. But it was fun to make one. I enjoy the process of creating. It makes me feel good to make something beautiful. The thing I like most is that I used supplies that I already had on-hand. I hope these are the only snowflakes I see...at least for a couple of weeks...until I can get my Christmas shopping done. Hooray! I have another card to share with you today! I made a tag with the Two Tags die out of Crumb Cake card stock. I stamped it with Crumb Cake ink and the "deck the halls" stamp from the Merry & Type set. Then I stamped the ornaments from the same set once on the tag and then three additional times on Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, and Not Quite Navy card stock with Basic Black ink. I trimmed out the images and paper pieced it. I cut the letters out with the Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlits Dies. (Hint: Since you can't cut chip board with Sizzlets, I cut out four Early Espresso and one Not Quite Navy of each letter and glued them together in a stack to form thicker letters.) You can probably tell from the picture that there was some major sponging going on with this card, but for the most part that is all there was to it.

This time we will feature holiday projects, so you definitely don't want to miss it. I know it is going to be fantastic! It is such a joy to know and work with the other Artisan Award winners. They are a very talented group of paper crafters/stampers! Each and every one of them are super nice, too!
Things have been crazy busy for me over the past few weeks and they are not likely to improve any time soon. With that in mind, I asked my BFF and downline, Nancy Brown, to share some of her wonderful demonstratable cards from her recent class. If you take a closer look, you will notice that Nancy used one of the scalloped circles from the Perfect Pennants Die and punched a circle in the center to make this adorable wreath Christmas card. I love how she used scoring to give the hint of a door without over-doing it. This is a quick and easy card that could easily be produced in mass to send to your friends and family, yet is very elegant!
If you want to take your cards to the next level for those special people in your life, this card would be great to send. Nancy used the Beautiful Season (#122680w/122682c) set to create this beautiful card. Nancy doesn't have a blog at the moment, so I am thrilled that she was willing to let me share her beautiful work. Thanks Nancy!
When I left to go out of town last week I thought for sure that I would be posting something while I was gone, but my computer wouldn't connect to the internet, so I finally gave up, packed everything away and said "forget it". To make matters worse, now the little "a" on my keyboard is malfunctioning and it is difficult to type...so if you notice some misspelled words...that is probably the reason.
We spent an entire week in Orlando. The weather was beautiful and we had a very nice time at SeaWorld, Epcot Center, Hollywood Studios, and the new Legoland. I haven't stamped in almost two weeks, so I thought I would show you a card that I made last year but never shared because I didn't get to it in time. The DSP I used on this card is retired, but everything is still current.
Since my keyboard is so frustrating to type on, I am going to keep it short and sweet for now. Have a great day!
