Have you seen the gorgeous new buttons that match the stripped ribbon? What do you mean you can't find them in the catalog? Well, that's because you haven't made them yet! That's right. Did you know that the 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is actually wide enough to make covered buttons.
When I first tried this technique the ribbon frayed terribly...but I didn't give up. Instead, I lightly coated the back of the ribbon with Tombow multi-purpose adhesive and set it aside to dry. (Yes, it truly is multi-purpose!) I used one of those button covering kits that you find in the notions department at almost any sewing or craft store and simply followed the directions. It was very easy. The smaller button kit is easiest to work. It comes with everything you need to cover buttons...with exception of the ribbon, of course.
This box is made with Basic Black CS and the SU Bitty Box & Envelope die. I used Melon Mambo CS and the SU Simple Flowers Embosslit die (#114514) to emboss and cut the flower in one easy step using my Big Shot machine. For the leaves I used Certainly Celery CS and the SU Little Leaves Sizzlit die.
