Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #11

This is my card for Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. You can see Karen's original card here, along with everyone who is playing. She has some blog candy this week, so this would be a great week to give her challenge a try.



I know my card is very close to Karen's version, but truly it is the only butterfly set that I have around at the moment (Flight of the Butterfly) and honestly, I was in  a rush to get this card finished. Since I used the same stamp set, I decided to choose a completely different color palette. I used Tea Party DSP along with some Almost Amethyst textured cs and Certainly Celery ribbon. I added some glitter to make the card a little more playful. I almost forgot to mention...I double-mounted the Whisper White cs to give it the look of embossing.

Another Quilt Card

If you read yesterday's post you will know that I have fallen in love with quilt cards. Ever since my grandmother passed away a few weeks ago, I have wanted to make some cards that remind me of the beautiful quilts she used to make. This technique is probably the closest that I have found that accomplishes that. Here I used Delicate Dots DSP from the Sale-a-bration brochure. I also added a piece of ribbon around the center and layered two flowers from the Pretties Kit. I just love how this turned card out...it reminds me of a Spring day.

Quilt Card CASE

The other day I realized that I had never taken the time to look back in the blog archives of my friend Nancy Riley at iSTAMP. All I can do is say "WOW". This gal has so much talent and makes some of the best Stampin' Up! only cards I have ever seen. I ran across her tutorial on how to make a quilt card here and decided to give it a try. This card is a great for anyone who is color challenged because it is mono-chromatic. This is a perfect way to use up those DSP hostess packs because you need several patterns of paper.

Here I used Brocade Blue DSP from the Level One Hostess Pack. I just love how it turned out. My mother complains that I don't ever make any "flat mailable" cards. Well, this card looks good without the ribbon and would be perfect when you are looking for a card without any bulk. Of course I couldn't make just one, so check back tomorrow when I will share another quilt card with a slightly different look.

Delicate Dots Easter Chocolate Squares

After most major holidays I run to Target and purchase their close-out candy at a huge discount. This cute little Easter gift started out as Valentine candy. I removed the packaging and recovered each chocolate tile with Delicate Dots DSP then I placed in back in the original packaging being careful to clean up the box.  I added some celery ribbon to dress it up a little. I stamped the little chick from "A Good Egg" stamp set three times...once on Whisper White CS and once on blue and yellow Delicate Dots dsp. I trimmed out and layered the chick and then punched it out with a 1 1/4" circle punch. The most difficult thing about this project was not eating the chocolate! Yum! I wonder who I will give this little cutie to...probably my DH.

Five Petal Polka Dot Punch Flower

Before Sale-a-bration comes to an end, I wanted to share with you this sweet spring card made with free stuff you can earn right now...but don't wait, these beautiful products will only be available until the end of March, so get your order in today. For this card I basically stamped and embossed 9-10 flowers from the Polka Dot Punches set in Whisper White Craft Ink on Bashful Blue CS. I punched one additional flower on Certainly Celery (for the leaves). I layered the top two layers with dimensionals, but then carefully cut apart the flower petals and glued them to the back of each layer until the flower was the size I desired. I added a Build-a-brad center to the flower and some of the beautiful So Saffron Ribbon to complete the look.

Black & White Gingham Easter Basket

Springtime has to be my favorite time of the year (except for all the allergy stuff). I love the beautiful colors that start popping out everywhere. I love making spring projects more than any other. I think it has something to do with how fresh everything feels. I have had several sheets of this black & white gingham paper (Making Memories) in my arsenal for the past two or three years and I absolutely love, love, love it! I know it isn't SU, but I just had to share the results of this cute little basket with you.

I used my Big Shot machine and several of my dies to create this basket. I cut four pieces of white card stock and cut them with my scalloped envelop die. Then I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add the swiss dots. I assembled the basket and then wrapped it with the gingham paper. I folded down the flaps so that the "pretty" side of the flaps showed to the outside and tacked them down with glue dots. I used my scalloped edge punch so that the handle coordinates with the basket flaps then attached it using beautiful filigree brads.

The flowers were created with several different Sizzix dies & sizzlets. I choose colors that coordinate with those beautiful pastel Hershey kisses that you find in all the stores this time of year.

Cheep Talk Love Note Grows Up

Today is really hectic, but I wanted to quickly share another little love note that grew up. I really had fun making these and the smaller size is much easier to work with. This is actually the same layout that I used on the "perfect pear" card. I just rearranged a few of the elements to make it work better for this image. I used the Cheep Talk stamp set, pacific point CS, some Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, and one of those adorable corduroy button to create this sweet little card. I stamped the inside of the card with Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point ink.

Bright Delights Love Note

Now that I have overcome my fear of using the Bright Delights rub-ons, (I tend to hoard supplies), here is a cute little love note. It could be used as an enclosure for a wedding gift (ie. perfect "pair"...play on words), or it is just neutral enough that it could be a quick little note for a friend. Either way you look at it, this 3"x3" card is just too cute.

I didn't stop with the outside, I went ahead and added a layer for the inside so that I wouldn't have to do that later on.

But just in case a love note isn't what you had in mind, I went ahead and added a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" layer...now this cute little love note is all grown up! I think I actually like the larger version even better.
