I was at my local Hobby Lobby store this past weekend and I found some cute little gift card holders in the shape of stockings by Brother & Sister Designs, Inc. I had to purchase one so that I could take it apart for the pattern. Since the design is copyrighted, I can't load the pattern on my website, but you get the idea.
This is the first one that I made using the Kiwi Kiss polka dot paper from the Bella Rose DSP. Sometimes you have to "think out of the box" and look at different uses for paper instead of just using other papers from the same collection. Bright green and hot pink have been really popular Christmas colors for the past few years and make some really cute "girly" projects. Of course my son didn't care for the color combo, but what do you expect from an 11 year old boy...but I would bet money that my little niece will love it!
The topper, heel, and toe are cut from Pink Passion card stock and embossed with the limited edition Cuttlebug Christmas Ornament folder. I added some eyelets on the points of the topper for stability and then used jump rings to attach some 9mm silver jingle bells. I tied a bow with some white 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and attached it with glue dots.
OMG, I had so much fun making these, I decided to make another. Hopefully this one will have a greater appeal to the guys. This stocking is made using both Ski Slope DSP for the stocking itself, and it is trimmed with striped dsp from the Holiday Treasures collection and Riding Hood Red CS. Many of the papers in both collections go very well together. The sentiment is stamped on an oval cut from Whisper White CS using my Nestabilities oval and trimmed with Riding Hood Red CS with the coordinating scallop oval. You can't tell it from this picture, but I added some Dazzeling Diamonds to each of the little star bursts and on some of the stripes of the topper. This added so much "bling" and put the project "over the top"! I wish you could see how beautiful it is when it sparkles. Of course, it only made sense to add jingle bells to the topper. I finished it all off with some Riding Hood Red Striped Ribbon and a silver cord for hanger for the tree.
Merry Christmas!
