Welcome to our Fancy Friday Blog Hop. Our theme this month is "Think Pink!". What do you think of when you think of pink? There are so many possibilities. For this hop we are allowed to use any shade, any shape, any greeting...anything!
I kept finding myself wanting to make a Valentine's card, even though that is already past, so I had to regroup and try to come up with something different. I have been in spring cleaning mode, so the last thing I wanted to do was pull out a ton of supplies. I had a some things already on my desk, so I decided to see what I could make with that.
I think I even came up with a new technique. For the background on this card I placed a paper towel on my craft sheet, randomly placed dots of ink refill on the paper towel and then spritzed the everything with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Once the ink had spread, I placed a piece of Irresistibly Floral DSP face down onto the towel and allowed the ink to absorb into the cardstock. The pattern in the paper towel was transferred to the cardstock and it was really pretty. I was so excited with the results, however it was a little too bold for the look I was going for, so I placed it behind a Whisper White die cut background (Detailed Floral Thinlits) to create a more subtle effect. I had already stamped the greeting from the All Things Thanks stamp set in Basic Black ink and die cut it with the Stitched Shapes die. It was the perfect addition to my card front. I stamped the flowers with the Perfectly Wrapped stamp set using tone-on-tone and then punched them out with the Petite Petals flower punch. It is much easier than fussy cutting and I love how the flowers look like they have veins.
A few weeks ago I mentioned that I have been making encouragement note cards for a local women's shelter. So while I had out my supplies, I decided to whip up a few more of those too. They are 3.75"x2.75". Again, I used the Perfectly Wrapped stamp set for these cards. The background was made by stamping some of the flowers full-strength with Melon Mambo ink and others were stamped off first.
I am excited to see what the other Fancy Friday team members have created. Now be sure to hop on over to visit my super talented friend, Marisa Gunn. She is amazing!
