My good friend, Jenn Piccard, is on the the design team over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, so I thought I would give this week's challenge a whirl. I needed to make a birthday card for my step-mother-in-law, but I didn't have a lot of time to spend, so I pulled out the Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin' Kit and built my card on that. The first thing you will probably notice is that I turned the sketch 90 degrees. Here's the thing about sketches...they are a great starting point, but you don't have to be too literal in how you execute them.
My card base was made with Pool Party card stock and then I added a layer of More Mustard. The designer series paper was also included in the kit, along with the journaling block. That's where the kit ends and the accessories begin. I stamped the Happy Birthday greeting from the "You're Awesome" stamp set and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure I lined up the greeting perfectly.
I added a strip of Cherry Cobbler DSP from the Regals Collection DSP Stack. I made the flowers using the second largest size of Paper Dasies (119243). I colored each flower with Stampin' Write Markers in Pool Party, Real Red, and More Mustard and allowed them to dry throughly before forming them into 3D flowers. I also trimmed down some of the petals of one fo the largest daisies and colored those with a Always Artichoke marker to create the leaves. I assembled the floral arrangement with a hot melt glue gun. Oh My Goodness...I love that new Silicone Craft Sheet! It's a must for every crafter!
This is a great sketch, so be sure to head on over to the Try Stamping on Tuesday blog and give it a try.
