The new catalog is now live and with it comes the new style of firm foam stamp pads. I have to be really honest, I have been stamping for fourteen years with the felt-style pads and have learded how to make them perform...so when SU announced the new style of pads, I was a little skeptical. One of the things that caught my attention right away was how "juicy" the new pads are with ink. SU suggests dabbing the new pads on a piece of scrap paper to remove some of the ink...thus a bright idea was born. I thought, "Why should I waste all of that good ink?" So I carefully place the new pad in the center of a card front and "shadow stamped" the image. This worked really well and I got a cute card out of the process. It did take the ink a long time to dry. I suppose you could speed up the process with a heat tool, but my family was asleep, so I just set it aside and allowed it to air dry. When I came back to it almost 24 hours later, it was ready to move to the next step.
I decided to stamp the greeting from "Just Beleive" in VersaMark ink and heat emboss it with white embossing powder. Tip: Use your Embossing Buddy or some talcum powder on the card front before stamping & embossing. I stamped the greeting from "Curly Cute" with the matching Gumball Green ink for a monochromatic look. I am not usually one who goes for one-layer cards, so I thought this card needed something extra. I used my Simply Scored tool to add an embossed frame and added some sweet little butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits die.
Be sure to check out the new catalog in my on-line store. I will try to have my blog's sidebar updated with a link to the new catalog ASAP.
