If you spend a lot of time looking at trends in some paper crafting/card making magazines, you will notice that there seems to be less stamping and more paper crafting. I am not really sure why this is...maybe because it is easier for the designers to crank out cards with store bought embellisments than to spend time stamping and coloring the images. I am not sure how I feel about this trend, since I am a stamper at heart, but I have certainly created my share of cards with little or no stamping. I love all the ribbon, buttons, designer paper and embossing folders that SU has to offer, so sometimes I limit my stamping to just the sentiment. This card is simple, yet there is enough going on visually that it works.
I love the playfulness of the Sweet Stitches designer series paper. I am particularly fond of the pattern used here on this 5.25" x 5.25" card. I tried to limit the layers on this card, but it wasn't easy because I love, love, love to layer on the color. Thankfully, with all the beautiful colors on this card, the extra layers weren't really necessary. I absolutely love the Melon Mambo CS paired with the black satin ribbon. Did you notice that I only embossed the top portion of the Melon Mambo CS. That way I had a nice, smooth area for stamping a sentiment. And those big, beautiful buttons...how can you resist adding one of those to your cards? Gotta love it!
