I was playing around with the smashed bottle caps and came up with this idea. This card is a little "out there" even for me. But if you don't experiement with new ideas every once in a while, you get a little boring. I really love the way the ribbon flower turned out. This card as is definitely SHINEY. I like the way the embossed foil background compliments the smashed bottle cap flower. Who knows, maybe this card will inspire someone, somewhere, somehow, so I decided to share it. For my earlier post on smashed bottlecaps, click here.
To create the flower I cut four 6-inch pieces of ribbon and glued the ends together to form four loops. I criss-crossed them on the back and then used glue dots to put them together. Be sure to hide the seems behind the bottle cap for a finished, professional look. I think next time I will use a hot glue gun, but so far it has held together.
For the background, I used a glue stick and glued aluminum foil to some scrap cardstock. After it dried I ran it though the Big Shot with the new SU Square Lattice embossing folder. I didn't think I liked this embossing folder very much, but I has grown on me. I loved using it with the foil. It gives a really masculine effect...although on this card the Melon Mambo ribbon seems to counteract that...hmmm, I wonder why? :)
Thanks for looking. Have a great day!
